I am interested in studying the impact of stressful experiences in early life on long-term behaviour and physiology of the adult animal, by particularly focusing on a brain area highly involved in the stress response: the prefrontal cortex. I am also interested in elucidating the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying gender and individual differences in the consequences of early life stress, which will aid to identify factors that predispose to increased susceptibility to develop stress-related neuropsychiatric disorders.
